Red, White, & Blue

I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July, I know I did!! My holiday was spent with friends and family at a cookout, unfortunately it also included lots of rain. I feel like it has been raining for weeks now, we might just float away if it doesn't stop raining soon. My fourth of July look came from one of my favorite boutiques, Becky & Company.

As you can tell I was very festive with the color choice, the open sleeve made it perfect for the summer time because even though it was raining the humidity was not shy so the open sleeve kept me cooled off. I paired this top with a pair of my favorite jeans that I actually bought at Maurice's. There jeans are a good fit for a reasonable price. And to finish the look my favorite Carlos by Carlos Santana sandals that I love so much!
My family always has a great cookout for the 4th, or really any holiday and this year was no exception. Rain or shine we will always have a good time, and good food! We had grilled chicken, potato salad, baked beans, slaw, pineapple casserole, okra, chips and dip and every dessert imaginable, it was perfection!! I'm getting hungry all over again just typing it out. When you grow up with a family that is as close as mine fun times are going to happen and the memories and just waiting to be made.

What did you do for the 4th?
Did you watch a good firework show?

Bead Buzz

This past week was rather hectic for me due to the fact that my family went to New Mexico while I was left at home to take care of all the animals and work my normal job so forgive me for not being able to keep up with my post. That being said I am so excited for my little brother who finished 8th and 10th in the nation in two different events at the rodeo they went to. It took the 32 hours but they finally made it home yesterday morning. They were very tired to say the least but they brought home some great presents!!

Beads are big this summer as many of you already know, and I love it! The multicolored beads are great for any outfit and by far my favorite. I also love a great turquoise necklace, which is exactly what my dad picked out for me. It has a turtle on it which stands for mother earth and long life.

The next piece of jewelry is a bracelet that is so pretty because it has the turquoise beads but also the multicolored beads that make a diamond pattern. This could be work with anything and really on any occasion which is what I love.

Headbands are another really big trend right now so you can't go wrong with this multicolored headband. Also a tip for girls that rodeo this can also double as a hatband you just have to be a little bit more careful with your hat.

I saved my favorite accessory for last, earrings. If you don't want to wear any kind of jewelry you should at least wear a great pair of earrings. These are very neutral so they can work with any outfit.

Is your family going on any vacations this summer?
Do you like beaded jewelry?

Wedge Up Wednesday

The right shoes for this girl is a pair of wedge heels. Don't get me wrong I love my sandals and even my boots, but the always faithful wedge is a true winner in my book. My favorite pair of wedges are from Buckle by Report.
I like to wear a pair of wedge heels with some denim Capri's if I'm going out for  lunch with some friends, or if you have an extremely comfortable pair then I like to wear them to go out shopping.

My personal go to look for wedges is to wear them with a pair of linen pants. Linen pants are great for the summer because you can wear them as casual or dressy as you want to. Also they can be worn in the beginning of the fall (depending on how cold nature you are) if you wear a matching pair of leggings under them.

Do you prefer wedge over stilettos?

Texas Tuesday

Vacation seems to be a rarity in my life, but on the off chance that I do get to go on a vacation it's more than likely going to be in Texas. I was able to go to Dallas a while back to visit some family and it was one of the best trips I have ever had. Since I have been to Texas before my intent was not to go sight seeing I was in it for all of the shopping of course! I had my trip all planned out and I knew that I wanted to go at the beginning of the month because that is when the First Monday Trade Days begins in Canton, TX.. If you are ever in Texas at the beginning of any month you should make it a priority to go there. You know it was successful when you cant fit all of your bags in the picture.
These are my Texas sized earrings that I absolutely love! I literally wear them all the time.

The next must shop at place is Sam Moon in Dallas. These few pictures that I was able to take do not do this store justice. It is huge and full of jewelry, purses/wallets that you can buy at cost. I bought a few of the bubble necklaces that are very popular this year for just 5 dollars a piece.
This is the view of the whole store and like I said before this does not do it justice.

This outfit is part canton, with the pants that I am just obsessed with because they are super comfy and I love the Aztec print, and then part Sam Moon with the red bubble necklace that pulls out the red in the pants.

Even though my trip was very short I had so much fun and can not wait to go back! If you ever find yourself in Texas make sure to go buy Canton.

My Summer Essentials

For every season there are always must haves in the fashion world. Mine may not be the same as Vogue but then again I will be walking down the sidewalk, not the catwalk. So I have picked out 5 key things that I think are summer must haves!

1. Of course for number one I had to choose my absolute favorite thing to shop for, a purse. For the summer it is key to have a purse that brings a pop of color, it will brighten your look and even your day! Women who are a little bit older who don't feel as comfortable with the bright colors can choose more of a pastel or if your just against color in general you can go with a tan or white. Personally I can't do white because I can't keep them clean.

2. Every girl needs a colorful pair of shorts to wear either shopping with friends, or to a summer cookout. This pair in particular came from Old Navy, and they are my favorite I like to wear them with a classic white t-shirt just because it makes the look clean and simple. Whenever you want to dress it up you can add a long necklace or a cute pair of earrings.
Excuse the sideways picture, I was having some technical difficulties.

3. Every girl needs a maxi skirt or dress, whichever you prefer but you at least need one of them. They are by far the most comfortable thing you can wear, and very forgiving on a day when you're not feeling your thinnest (trust me). This maxi skirt is one that I actually just bought today at TJ Maxx for only 20 dollars, I can't wait to wear it!! Don't worry there will be pictures to come on how I style it so stay tuned.

4. A girl has to have shoes! These sandals are also a TJ Maxx find and I absolutely love them! They go with anything and everything and I could wear them every single day. If you can wear sandals to work these have a slight heel on them to give them a dressy feel but yet they are still casual for everyday wear.

5. Last but certainly not least a good manicure can always put an extra spring in your step. This color is pink flamingo by opi gel polish, the reason I like to stick with the gel polish is because it last so 2-3 weeks without chipping. So I can go to work and have my hands in hair all day long and not have to worry about my polish chipping. Nobody wants to pull a piece of pink polish out of their hair. I also love a good manicure because lets be honest, it makes your hands look so much prettier!!

Weekend Adventures

For most people the weekend is full of relaxing by the pool or out on the lake with friends, some do yard work and just spend time at home. For my family the weekend is when we hit the road!

Unlike most weekends this weekend in particular was extra special, for one it was my boyfriends 24th birthday, and two it's Fathers Day weekend. For a second I will have to break some bad news and say even though most people claim they have the best dad, I really do! He is the hardest working person I have ever met, today is his day to do ANYTHING he wants and he is off looking at a job for this week. Crazy? maybe, successful? without a doubt!

Before I dove head first into my weekend I had to work, like the rest of America. But luckily I LoVe my job! I had a special appointment this weekend for a very nice lady who was going to a party in the city. She wanted to wear her hair up because she never really gets the chance to dress up, so this was a special occasion for her. Once she got to the salon we discussed what all she would want to do with her hair. Lots of hairspray and 20 bobby pins later we had a beautiful finished product.
Even though for her this was just for a party, this is a wonderful style for any of you summer brides. If your having an evening wedding you can add the bobby pins with diamonds or pearls on the ends, or if your wedding is during the day you can leave it a little more simple like this. This is also perfect to beat the heat because it is up off of your neck so you can dance and not get to hot or worry about your curls falling out by the end of the night.

To start my weekend I took my boyfriend out to dinner for his birthday. Since it was his choice of course he chose Mexican food. I had no complaints on that because every other time we go eat I choose, so I guess this one time he can get his way. Then on Saturday we met up with the rest of my family at the rodeo, which as always was so much fun! It's always a good time to see your friends that you don't get to see during the week and catch up on what's going on in their lives.

As you can see the food is just as good as the rodeo itself. This is my youngest brother demolishing the ribs which are delicious! This is his signature style with his pants tucked down in his boots. I'm not really sure where he came up with this because nobody else in my family does it, but hey it looks good and now I don't think he would look right any other way. I'm probably a little biased but I have to say he is by far the cutest kid at the rodeos!

To wrap up my weekend I had a delicious Sunday lunch with my nana and papaw. It doesn't matter how old I am they still spoil me, after lunch we walked to our cars and my papaw immediately noticed my car was very dirty (you can't keep a black car clean) and offered to take it to the car wash. Now I'm ready to drive into this week with a shiny car!

Moroccan Madness

If you haven't jumped on the Moroccan Oil bandwagon yet, you need to get on now! This is hair care product that not only works amazing but smells amazing as well. I personally use this product on every single client as well as myself.

If you have curly hair the curl defining cream is for you! And anyone with dry or damaged hair needs to invest in the hydrating shampoo & conditioner as well as the Moroccan oil. Also with curls it's better to use a non aerosol hairspray so you don't dry your hair out.

The key to healthy hair for me is using good products and getting a trim every 8 weeks. Don't be afraid to take off 2-3 inches sometimes you need it! Healthy over stringy ALWAYS!

All of these product are only sold in salons, but don't let that stop you from having great products, any hair stylist can order these products.

This is not a paid advertisement just pure love of a great hair product, that I hope you all will have great success with!

Everyone needs great hair!
