Red, White, & Blue

I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July, I know I did!! My holiday was spent with friends and family at a cookout, unfortunately it also included lots of rain. I feel like it has been raining for weeks now, we might just float away if it doesn't stop raining soon. My fourth of July look came from one of my favorite boutiques, Becky & Company.

As you can tell I was very festive with the color choice, the open sleeve made it perfect for the summer time because even though it was raining the humidity was not shy so the open sleeve kept me cooled off. I paired this top with a pair of my favorite jeans that I actually bought at Maurice's. There jeans are a good fit for a reasonable price. And to finish the look my favorite Carlos by Carlos Santana sandals that I love so much!
My family always has a great cookout for the 4th, or really any holiday and this year was no exception. Rain or shine we will always have a good time, and good food! We had grilled chicken, potato salad, baked beans, slaw, pineapple casserole, okra, chips and dip and every dessert imaginable, it was perfection!! I'm getting hungry all over again just typing it out. When you grow up with a family that is as close as mine fun times are going to happen and the memories and just waiting to be made.

What did you do for the 4th?
Did you watch a good firework show?

Bead Buzz

This past week was rather hectic for me due to the fact that my family went to New Mexico while I was left at home to take care of all the animals and work my normal job so forgive me for not being able to keep up with my post. That being said I am so excited for my little brother who finished 8th and 10th in the nation in two different events at the rodeo they went to. It took the 32 hours but they finally made it home yesterday morning. They were very tired to say the least but they brought home some great presents!!

Beads are big this summer as many of you already know, and I love it! The multicolored beads are great for any outfit and by far my favorite. I also love a great turquoise necklace, which is exactly what my dad picked out for me. It has a turtle on it which stands for mother earth and long life.

The next piece of jewelry is a bracelet that is so pretty because it has the turquoise beads but also the multicolored beads that make a diamond pattern. This could be work with anything and really on any occasion which is what I love.

Headbands are another really big trend right now so you can't go wrong with this multicolored headband. Also a tip for girls that rodeo this can also double as a hatband you just have to be a little bit more careful with your hat.

I saved my favorite accessory for last, earrings. If you don't want to wear any kind of jewelry you should at least wear a great pair of earrings. These are very neutral so they can work with any outfit.

Is your family going on any vacations this summer?
Do you like beaded jewelry?

Wedge Up Wednesday

The right shoes for this girl is a pair of wedge heels. Don't get me wrong I love my sandals and even my boots, but the always faithful wedge is a true winner in my book. My favorite pair of wedges are from Buckle by Report.
I like to wear a pair of wedge heels with some denim Capri's if I'm going out for  lunch with some friends, or if you have an extremely comfortable pair then I like to wear them to go out shopping.

My personal go to look for wedges is to wear them with a pair of linen pants. Linen pants are great for the summer because you can wear them as casual or dressy as you want to. Also they can be worn in the beginning of the fall (depending on how cold nature you are) if you wear a matching pair of leggings under them.

Do you prefer wedge over stilettos?

Texas Tuesday

Vacation seems to be a rarity in my life, but on the off chance that I do get to go on a vacation it's more than likely going to be in Texas. I was able to go to Dallas a while back to visit some family and it was one of the best trips I have ever had. Since I have been to Texas before my intent was not to go sight seeing I was in it for all of the shopping of course! I had my trip all planned out and I knew that I wanted to go at the beginning of the month because that is when the First Monday Trade Days begins in Canton, TX.. If you are ever in Texas at the beginning of any month you should make it a priority to go there. You know it was successful when you cant fit all of your bags in the picture.
These are my Texas sized earrings that I absolutely love! I literally wear them all the time.

The next must shop at place is Sam Moon in Dallas. These few pictures that I was able to take do not do this store justice. It is huge and full of jewelry, purses/wallets that you can buy at cost. I bought a few of the bubble necklaces that are very popular this year for just 5 dollars a piece.
This is the view of the whole store and like I said before this does not do it justice.

This outfit is part canton, with the pants that I am just obsessed with because they are super comfy and I love the Aztec print, and then part Sam Moon with the red bubble necklace that pulls out the red in the pants.

Even though my trip was very short I had so much fun and can not wait to go back! If you ever find yourself in Texas make sure to go buy Canton.

My Summer Essentials

For every season there are always must haves in the fashion world. Mine may not be the same as Vogue but then again I will be walking down the sidewalk, not the catwalk. So I have picked out 5 key things that I think are summer must haves!

1. Of course for number one I had to choose my absolute favorite thing to shop for, a purse. For the summer it is key to have a purse that brings a pop of color, it will brighten your look and even your day! Women who are a little bit older who don't feel as comfortable with the bright colors can choose more of a pastel or if your just against color in general you can go with a tan or white. Personally I can't do white because I can't keep them clean.

2. Every girl needs a colorful pair of shorts to wear either shopping with friends, or to a summer cookout. This pair in particular came from Old Navy, and they are my favorite I like to wear them with a classic white t-shirt just because it makes the look clean and simple. Whenever you want to dress it up you can add a long necklace or a cute pair of earrings.
Excuse the sideways picture, I was having some technical difficulties.

3. Every girl needs a maxi skirt or dress, whichever you prefer but you at least need one of them. They are by far the most comfortable thing you can wear, and very forgiving on a day when you're not feeling your thinnest (trust me). This maxi skirt is one that I actually just bought today at TJ Maxx for only 20 dollars, I can't wait to wear it!! Don't worry there will be pictures to come on how I style it so stay tuned.

4. A girl has to have shoes! These sandals are also a TJ Maxx find and I absolutely love them! They go with anything and everything and I could wear them every single day. If you can wear sandals to work these have a slight heel on them to give them a dressy feel but yet they are still casual for everyday wear.

5. Last but certainly not least a good manicure can always put an extra spring in your step. This color is pink flamingo by opi gel polish, the reason I like to stick with the gel polish is because it last so 2-3 weeks without chipping. So I can go to work and have my hands in hair all day long and not have to worry about my polish chipping. Nobody wants to pull a piece of pink polish out of their hair. I also love a good manicure because lets be honest, it makes your hands look so much prettier!!

Weekend Adventures

For most people the weekend is full of relaxing by the pool or out on the lake with friends, some do yard work and just spend time at home. For my family the weekend is when we hit the road!

Unlike most weekends this weekend in particular was extra special, for one it was my boyfriends 24th birthday, and two it's Fathers Day weekend. For a second I will have to break some bad news and say even though most people claim they have the best dad, I really do! He is the hardest working person I have ever met, today is his day to do ANYTHING he wants and he is off looking at a job for this week. Crazy? maybe, successful? without a doubt!

Before I dove head first into my weekend I had to work, like the rest of America. But luckily I LoVe my job! I had a special appointment this weekend for a very nice lady who was going to a party in the city. She wanted to wear her hair up because she never really gets the chance to dress up, so this was a special occasion for her. Once she got to the salon we discussed what all she would want to do with her hair. Lots of hairspray and 20 bobby pins later we had a beautiful finished product.
Even though for her this was just for a party, this is a wonderful style for any of you summer brides. If your having an evening wedding you can add the bobby pins with diamonds or pearls on the ends, or if your wedding is during the day you can leave it a little more simple like this. This is also perfect to beat the heat because it is up off of your neck so you can dance and not get to hot or worry about your curls falling out by the end of the night.

To start my weekend I took my boyfriend out to dinner for his birthday. Since it was his choice of course he chose Mexican food. I had no complaints on that because every other time we go eat I choose, so I guess this one time he can get his way. Then on Saturday we met up with the rest of my family at the rodeo, which as always was so much fun! It's always a good time to see your friends that you don't get to see during the week and catch up on what's going on in their lives.

As you can see the food is just as good as the rodeo itself. This is my youngest brother demolishing the ribs which are delicious! This is his signature style with his pants tucked down in his boots. I'm not really sure where he came up with this because nobody else in my family does it, but hey it looks good and now I don't think he would look right any other way. I'm probably a little biased but I have to say he is by far the cutest kid at the rodeos!

To wrap up my weekend I had a delicious Sunday lunch with my nana and papaw. It doesn't matter how old I am they still spoil me, after lunch we walked to our cars and my papaw immediately noticed my car was very dirty (you can't keep a black car clean) and offered to take it to the car wash. Now I'm ready to drive into this week with a shiny car!

Moroccan Madness

If you haven't jumped on the Moroccan Oil bandwagon yet, you need to get on now! This is hair care product that not only works amazing but smells amazing as well. I personally use this product on every single client as well as myself.

If you have curly hair the curl defining cream is for you! And anyone with dry or damaged hair needs to invest in the hydrating shampoo & conditioner as well as the Moroccan oil. Also with curls it's better to use a non aerosol hairspray so you don't dry your hair out.

The key to healthy hair for me is using good products and getting a trim every 8 weeks. Don't be afraid to take off 2-3 inches sometimes you need it! Healthy over stringy ALWAYS!

All of these product are only sold in salons, but don't let that stop you from having great products, any hair stylist can order these products.

This is not a paid advertisement just pure love of a great hair product, that I hope you all will have great success with!

Everyone needs great hair!

Steals & Deals

I have found some great deals this week!!! Which everybody loves a great deal even if it's just on lotion. Yesterday I had some errands to run so of course while I was out I couldn't just not go in the mall that would be rude. So I had told my grandma I would find her lotion that she uses because she wa running out, keep in mind she's been using this same bottle for about 5 years!! So I went to bath and body works and they are having a huge sale where the majority of their lotions are just 3 dollars! If you can smell that good for 3 dollars then therein just no excuse not to smell delicious all the time!

Since they were having such a great sale I bought her 3 different lotions, one sweet pea, cucumber melon, and then my new found favorite cotton blossom. For those who like a nice clean smell this is for you! When I showed my grandma her new collection of lotion (which she loved) she said it took me 5 years to use one bottle so now I'm set for 15 years!! You have to love your grandmas sense of humor.

The next great find was at Old Navy, they have all of their active (workout/running) shorts on sale for just 8 dollars. They had some cute colors too which is always a plus, you never know who you may run into. You don't have to wear makeup to the gym but a cute outfit never killed anyone.

Have you found any good deals this week?
Where at?

Please excuse any misspelled words, this post came from my phone so it was a little tricky this time.

Know what you have

Most women have a drawer in their bedroom or bathroom that they keep all of their jewelry in. When you keep all of your jewelry piled in a drawer you never end up wearing all of it. A few examples of what can happen

A: All of your necklaces form a huge ball of tangled chains that a magician couldn't even fix.

B: You keep one pair of earrings out on your bathroom sink along with that one ring and one necklace that are your everyday things you put on and then you never wear the rest.

C: You don't want to take the extra time to look in the back of the drawer or underneath all of those necklaces to find something that you haven't worn in a while.

Solutions, get a bulletin board and either hang it on your closet wall if your closet has enough room for it, or prop it up against the wall in your bedroom like I did. Take a some colorful tacks that you can find at any dollar store or Walmart and start hanging up all of those beautiful pieces of jewelry that you've been hiding from yourself.

If you click on the link above it will take you to more ideas on pinterest that show you how to organize your jewelry.

Root mania

Any woman in the world will tell you the worst thing in the world to see is roots. Especially if you are naturally 100% gray. There is nothing worse than looking in your rear view mirror as you drive down the road to see a skunk stripe a mile long going through your beautiful hair. There really is no cure for this other than staying on top of your hair appointments and if your hair grows fast then you might as well change that 6 week appointment to a 4 week appointment.

Some tricks that can help you get through those last days until you reach the promise land of your hair salon. If you color your hair really dark and there are those few gray hairs standing up right in the front of your hairline take some mascara and brush over them. If you're a blonde you can take some dry shampoo ( I prefer Redken brand) and spray on your roots. After spraying always comb through your hair and even give your roots a little tease. Also for blondes ask your hairstylist to put lowlights in your hair that match your natural color.

For the girls who naturally have dark brown or black hair and like to have highlights but you don't like to maintain them. I feel your pain because I am right there with you. The best thing that I have done to fix this is problem is the ombre (don't try to do this yourself, please go to a professional) not every ombre has to be drastic it can also be very subtle. I recently had a client with this problem so we just did a subtle ombre and she loves it because she has the brighter feel for summer but no up keep that comes with highlights.

Color Craze

If you haven't noticed I'm trying to play around with the different colors of font that I would like to use, and I've almost decided to just use a different color everyday. This is the way i feel about the polish I use on my nails. In the summer I like to wear a bright neon pink, mainly because it brings out your tan. But then there are days when I want to wear plum or red or maybe get a wild hair and go with a deep blue. Its funny we tend to get in slumps and stick with the same color every time, or that one time you think you want to change you stand at the colors for ten minutes debating on if you wear a lot of purple and what if you don't? then your nails wont match your shirt!! Well don't worry ladies your nails do not have to match your shirt every single day. Every once in a while you need to take the leap and go with the deep blue or neon pink, change it up!! These are some great colors for summer.

I recently ventured into the world of print pants, I have the colored jeans but never any with a print or pattern on them but one day I found a pair of skinny Capri's that I just had to have. You'll never guess where I found them, TJ Maxx!! Yes I know hard to believe but they were only 10 dollars so you know when you start to reason with yourself that it's a great find then you know you're getting them. While buying these I had to ask myself what should I pair with them as far as shoes and shirt, but since it is warmer now it has to be sandals and the pants are light pink so I figured just this once I would go with a plain white T-shirt, as my friends and family no I very rarely wear a plain white T.

This is the outfit, I promise it's not as wrinkled on as it was on my floor. This whole outfit, all of which from TJ Maxx only cost 35 dollars. When you buy an outfit don't think that you can only wear it together, don't be afraid to mix up the different pieces. The shoes which are Carlos by Carlos Santana were only 15 dollars and I literally wear them 3 to 4 times a week, and clearly the white t-shirt by Cynthia Rowley can be worn with anything and everything. So don't be afraid to get your moneys worth out of your clothes.

Even though in my profession I am lucky enough to wear pretty much anything, this would be a great summer barbecue outfit or even for a girls day or night out. Don't let your job dictate your closet it's nice to have pieces that are functional in both environments but you alwyas need pieces that are fun for you!!

Are you into the colored jeans craze?

Ready, Set, Shop!!!

Shopping... There really is no in between either you hate it or you love it. Me personally, I love it. Even though I tend to have a rich girls taste with a poor girls budget I can still manage to find something affordable for me. The key is to know when to go to the small but sometimes pricey boutiques, and when to go to the discount clothing stores. My personal favorite is TJ Maxx, I have deemed myself a maxxinista, which is a clever name for those of us addicted to TJ Maxx.

The smaller boutiques which are generally found in every town are always a great place to find pieces that not many people will have, but at times that can come with a high price tag. If you are someone who has to stick with a strict budget and is strong willed (which is key) still go in those stores and just look at how they have the mannequins dressed and some of their more popular pieces, and then go to a TJ Maxx and find something similar.

My mom was recently having this dilemma, we went to a boutique and she found a very nice blouse that looked great on her! but the price was just to much. So I went to TJ Maxx and yes had to do a little digging but actually found the same exact blouse for half the price!!! I honestly felt like I deserved an award for such a steal. That's the beauty of TJ Maxx they carry great quality clothing for the most reasonable prices. Even better, the stores are normally very well organized, because believe me there is nothing worse than going into a store with mounds of clothes piled to the ceiling. So the next time you find yourself in a budget crunch but you absolutely have to have a new outfit for a summer barbecue stop in a TJ Maxx and don't be intimidated by looking through a few clothes racks, I promise it will pay off for both you and your wallet.

What is your favorite boutique?

Are you a maxxinista yet?

Who I am

This is my first post and I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit nervous...I should probably start out by introducing myself. My name is Paige, I am a hairstylist for almost a year now and I absolutely love it!! My overall goal is to eventually own a hair salon and clothing store, or become a personal stylist..RZ in training, (RZ stands for Rachel Zoe)..The way that she gets to style celebrities is how I would like to style the everyday woman.
I live in a small town so sometimes my fashion choices don't exactly fit in, but i can still throw on jeans and a t-shirt and go ride horses all day with my brothers. My entire family rodeos so that occupies the majority of our life. When you rodeo your whole life is consumed by taking care of animals and vacations normally consist of going to a rodeo just out of state. Even though we may complain sometimes we still love it and wouldn't trade it for the world.
If I'm not at the hair salon or home I'm probably out shopping, it is by far my favorite thing to do. I could literally shop all day every day and love every minute of it. Even though I have a rich girls taste with a poor girl’s purse I can still manage to buy something. The key to success when it comes to shopping is knowing where to look and when. This is why I wanted to start this blog to share and hopefully help you find the right look for you from the roots of your hair all the way to your nail polish on the tips of your toes.
